The first person whom Takaya met in Hitaki Academy, Kanzan is the school's janitor. He is often seen cleaning and gardening within the school's vicinity.
Amiable and unassuming, he gets along with the students of the academy. In spite of his gentle exterior, Kanzan is not one to be provoked, as he is an accomplished martial artist who has mastered many martial arts.
